New York Kriya Yoga 2010 calendar update

Praj_Baba_SM

“Your soul is your diamond.

If your mind remains below, in the lower centers of delusion, illusion, and error, then you will get bondage, but if you come above, to the higher centers you will get liberation. But you have to work and struggle for this.

Every human being must transcend animality, rising to rationality and then to spirituality. This process of evolution is not fast, nor is it clearly visible.

Everyone looks for worldly possessions, but very few search for true spiritual treasures, which will bring real joy and peace in life.”

-Paramahamsa Hariharananda

Dear Divine Friends

New York Kriya Yoga Center extends our sincerest thanks to all of you for your continued support, for coming to Wednesday and Sunday meditations, as well as for your donations.
We would like to share the updated 2010 calendar for New York Kriya Yoga center, so that you will have some idea as to what to expect in the weeks and months to come.
In 2009, we were fortunate enough to have had four programs, with four visiting teachers; we would also like to thank for your dedication in supporting those programs.

We hope you will take advantage of these upcoming program opportunities to strengthen and deepen your meditation practice.

For those of you who are not regular participants at our Sunday meditation classes, you may have missed our monthly center teleconference call. We are extremely fortunate to have monthly access via teleconference, to the short discourses by different yogacharyas, monks and often Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji himself, therefore we urge you to check the schedule and try to attend meditation on those Sundays, as the calls offer motivation and inspiration to help us grow and flourish.

Of late, Paramahamsa Prajnananandaji has been constantly reminding us not to waste time. In so doing, he is urging us not to waste available opportunities to transform our lives. Even though he is not with us physically, he has made himself available to encourage and inspire us through these discourses.

Our New York Kriya Yoga Center is always looking at ways to deepen and intensify our commitment to our practice, with this in mind, we are looking into securing a suitable space to do a program that will be fully funded by our New York Center. This way everyone will be able to enjoy the guidance and wisdom of an extended day of meditation that such a retreat would afford. It would also allow as wide as possible a number to participate.

In order to do this retreat, in the coming Sunday morning after meditation, we will be discussing what it will require in terms of space, meals, hours, number of people, the cost per person, exact date, etc? In the coming weeks, attending Sunday morning meditation will help us fill in as many details as possible, which will help us build a scenario within our means.

Here are some things we would like you to keep in mind:

1. We realize that it has been unusually warm in the Zendo on Sunday mornings, however, the Zendo has asked that we NOT to adjust the radiator valves anywhere on site, for any reason. They have requested that we please regulate for desired temperature during class time by opening/closing windows. As tampering with heating would likely cause irreparable floor damage from water leakage. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

2. Please note that on April 11th as the Zendo will not be available for our use meditation will be canceled

3. Cultivating Seva: Selfless Service as Devotion
Gurudev always consider work, as the need arises, as divine service; he always encouraged us all to challenge ourselves by nurturing and helping wherever we notice it is needed.

The definition of seva is service. The practice inspires divine love, by connecting us with our ability to love. Seva is an ideal way to both give and receive simultaneously and not only feeds us spiritually but also promotes brotherhood and a spiritual discipline that awakens us to the greater truth of our own being.

In this case, Seva refers to selfless service for altruistic purposes for the betterment of our New York City Kriya Yoga Center. Offering our Seva is a way to make a significant contribution to the upkeep of the center. Working together in loving, voluntary, selfless, service is a means to promote humility, which is a cornerstone of our Kriya practice.

Participate, please, in maintaining our center, so that together we can come to understand the reality of existence as taught by our beloved Gurudev, as he asked us only to perceive in every moment that everything we are doing is only possible because the power of God is doing it through us and earn transformation and realization in the process.

We are asking you to participate with what ever you can afford, your donations and participation are vital to the survival of the New York Center.

We are one big family; we depend on each other for our existence. Click here to volunteer to help with our programs.

"Please take a share of my spiritual wealth. Take as much as you can."
